A Two-Toned Dream

I was VERY EXCITED when I scored this amazing dresser!
One look and you will see why.
I love this dresser with all that beautiful wood grain and charm – Depression-era furniture is my most favorite style!
This piece was FANTASTIC!
It was in great shape and all the drawers were lovely.
I was thrilled.
In fact, I was so excited that I shared about it on my Instagram.
Wouldn’t you know a very good friend of mine asked if she could purchase it from me to have refinished for her bedroom?
Well….I thought that would be a wonderful idea!
So….we finished her up to her liking.

Brittany had great vision…she was after a two-toned look as she loves a mix of paint and wood tones…I would agree!
We went with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint in a mix of paints in a ratio of
1 part Trophy to 4 parts Schloss.
I think grey looks amazing with wood grain so I knew she would have a winning combination!
I used Miss Mustard Seed Bonding Agent so as to avoiding any paint chipping and then sealed this piece with Miss Mustard Seed’s Hemp Oil.

I did struggle with the drawers a bit.
I sanded them down to the bare wood and then stained and sealed them with a poly, but the poly looked splotchy and I didn’t like it.
So…I then used my Citristrip to strip off the finish I had just applied and started again…sand, stain and I decided to keep it simple and just seal the drawers with the Hemp Oil.
The finish turned out so well  – the wood grain was STUNNING.

So…it’s perfectly OK to move to Plan B when necessary!
This Plan B was the BEST PLAN!

By the way, those awesome cut glass knobs are from D. Lawless Hardware…they are
perfect for this piece!

Thanks for reading…have a blessed day!
